چکیده

General description of the model. We consider the diffusion of N particles in a cell, consisting of the cytosol, and the membrane. We assume the cell is a sphere of radius R. There are four different kinds of events which change the configuration of particles in the cell. • Spontaneous membrane association. A particle in the cytosol will move to a random location on the membrane at a rate of kon ([min −1]). • Spontaneous membrane disassociation. A particle on the membrane can move back to the cytosol. This happens with rate koff ([min −1]). • Membrane association through recruitment. A particle on the membrane can recruit a particle in the cytosol. The rate at which one particle recruits from the cytosol is proportional to the fraction of particles which are still in the cytosol. The proportionality constant is kfb ([min −1]). • Diffusion on membrane. Each particle on the membrane undergoes a Brownian motion with diffusion coefficient D ([μm2min−1]).

Positive Feedback Is Sufficient to Trigger Spontaneous Spatial Localization of Signaling Systems in Cells

Positive feedback is a common motif embedded within in eukaryotic signal transduction networks. However, mechanisms by which positive feedback circuits regulate the spatial localization and persistence of signals are not well understood. Here, we show that a simple signaling-mediated, cytoskeleton-independent, positive feedback circuit has the intrinsic capacity for amplifying internal noise to...

Localization of Eigenvalues in Small Specified Regions of Complex Plane by State Feedback Matrix

This paper is concerned with the problem of designing discrete-time control systems with closed-loop eigenvalues in a prescribed region of stability. First, we obtain a state feedback matrix which assigns all the eigenvalues to zero, and then by elementary similarity operations we find a state feedback which assigns the eigenvalues inside a circle with center   and radius. This new algorithm ca...

Mathematical analysis of spontaneous emergence of cell polarity.

Cell polarization, in which intracellular substances are asymmetrically distributed, enables cells to carry out specialized functions. While cell polarity is often induced by intracellular or extracellular spatial cues, spontaneous polarization (the so-called symmetry breaking) may also occur in the absence of spatial cues. Many computational models have been used to investigate the mechanisms ...

Evidence for an association between Wnt-independent -catenin intracellular localization and ovarian apoptotic events in normal and PCO-induced rat ovary

The association of secreted frizzled related protein type 4 (Sfrp4) as an antagonist of Wnt mole-cules in apoptotic events has been reported previously. Moreover, its increased expression has been reported in the ovary of women with polycystic ovary (PCO). We have demonstrated in-creased Sfrp4 in PCO-induced rat ovary related to an increased number of apoptotic follicles showing nuclear ?cateni...

Types of glioma brain tumors and genetic alterations in signaling pathways in them

Types of glioma brain tumors and genetic alterations in signaling pathways in them Background & Objective: Glioma is a common type of primary brain tumor originating in the glial cells that surrounds and supports neurons in the brain. These tumors arise from three different types of cells that are normally found in the brain: astrocytes, oligodendrocytes, and ependymal cells, accordingly types ...
